For many of you, 2010 has been a challenging year. You may be
tempted to just bury your head and avoid thinking about it, hoping
2011 will be better. Yet looking at 2010 and planning now for the
future will make sure that you thrive in 2010.
This time of year is perfect for reviewing 2010 and planning to set
yourself up for success in 2011.
Here's a step-by-step process for engaging in this review and
planning.
1. Write down all your successes, breakthroughs, and learnings from 2010.
2. Write down all your failures, breakdowns, and disappointments from 2010.
3. What do you want to duplicate from 2010? What do you want to
avoid from 2010.
4. Write down 3-5 specific, measurable goals for next year.
5. Write down why you want to reach your goals. What is the
purpose behind the goal? Purpose equals passion, which will fuel
you through any challenges.
6. Write down the actions you can take to help you achieve your goals.
7. From your list of actions, which ones will you commit to
doing? Consider which actions you are most likely to do that will
also bring you the results you want. Then commit to taking those
action.
8. Review your goals, purpose, and actions each week to measure
your progress towards reaching those goals. Change your actions
as needed.
Using this process will give you clarity and direction to make sure
2011 is successful. We wish you a wonderful holiday season and a
fantastic 2011.
